Where design transforms healing

Rebuilding interior spaces for children and families facing a medical crisis to strengthen and encourage recovery

Our Mission

Why I started the Virginia Chapter

As a mother to three awesome boys, one of whom was diagnosed with brain cancer 10 years ago, I understand the real impacts that a devastating illness can have on a family. My son, Isaiah, is now cancer free and it’s my honor to startup the Virginia Chapter of Savvy Giving by Design to help children just like Isaiah.

How it works

  • We select a child facing a medical crisis and transform their bedroom to improve the health and function and design at no cost to the family.

  • By transforming a deserving child’s room we have an opportunity to make changes that promote healing both physically and emotionally.

  • Children 18 or younger in Virginia facing a medical crisis. If the child has siblings we will also design their bedrooms, as they are equally impacted during this time.

According to long-established studies, access to a comforting space contributes to up to 30% of the healing process.
