Updating a Dreary Kitchen

Love it, don’t just like it.

For many people, the kitchen is the most important room in the house.  It’s the central hub for preparing meals, connecting with family, and entertaining guests.  So, a crucial aspect of any kitchen design is that it's both functional and inviting for the lifestyle you want to live.

My clients for this project wanted to give their kitchen a full update.  To them, it had a dark, dreary ambiance that lacked personality and style.  It also had a basic builder design that wasn’t functional for their lifestyle.  The island was awkwardly placed and only had two seats, and they also had an unused desk area that was only cluttering the space.  Finally, my clients hated the design of the existing tile floors and wanted to opt for a low-maintenance solution without grout.

We began the redesign by changing the overall layout of the space.  I was able to reconfigure the island layout to add an additional seat.  From there we removed the desk area to create a more functional coffee area fit with doors to hide appliances when they’re not in use.

For the flooring, we opted to install LVP tile which removed all grout lines while offering a cleaner, modern look that’s soft on the feet.

Overall, my clients were very happy with the end result.  They now had a bright, beautiful space with all the functionality needed to match their busy lifestyle.
